Product Specifications:
The P45B Compact 88-Key Portable Digital Piano from Yamaha features GHS weighted action is heavier in the low end and lighter in the high end, just like an acoustic piano.
Advanced Wave Memory Stereo Sampling recreates natural instrument sound in stereo.
64-note polyphony allows the player to perform moderately dense piano passages, even using heavy sustain pedal, with few or no dropped notes being cut off.
The USB to HOST port allows you to connect and interact with a wide variety of educational, music creation or music entertainment applications on a computer or mobile device.

Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) Technology – The P45B uses the latest AWM with a digital technology to record the most authentic sound of an acoustic piano and the AWM stereo sampling then creates a deeper, richer and more spacious sound by combining pairs of waveforms (L and R) as captured by the microphone. The P-45B uses this AWM recorded sound to then play at varying volume and timbre levels.

Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) weighted action – The GHS weighted action provides heavy touch in the low end keys and a much lighter touch in the high end keys, like a real acoustic piano. You can also adjust the keyboard’s sensitivity according to your playing style. It serves as a perfect learning instrument for beginners, as they get to perfect their finger technique with the GHS action and be ready for when the time comes to play an acoustic piano. No other digital piano offers a GHS action at this price range, making it a great value for money instrument for beginners, students, small bands or for casual home usage.

64-note Polyphony – This is an upgraded feature from the P-35, which had a 32-note polyphony. A 64-not polyphony allows the player to perform moderately dense musical passages even while using heavy sustain pedal, without cutting off any dropped notes.

Dual/Split Mode – The Dual Mode feature allows you to combine two of the ten built-in voices in the P45B, like piano and strings, for a more versatile and creative performance. While the Split mode allows two different sounds in the lower and higher end of the keyboard. Thus, you can play say, a bass guitar in the lower half while piano on the upper half of the keyboard.

USB connectivity – The USB-to-Host port allows you to connect with computers and mobile phones, using the various educational, music creation or entertainment software applications. There is an option of MIDI in and out, as well as a 1/4″ headphone output to enable you to practice in silence without any background noise.

Reverb and Chorus Effect – Another USP of the P45B is the additional feature of Chorus along with the Reverb effect, which you do not find at this price range in other digital pianos of various brands. The Chorus effect allows for that warm sound quality and much richer sound effects.

Single Button Function – The P45B has a unique Single Button feature which allows you to change various settings in the piano at the touch of a single button. It allows you to change voices, play demo sources, configure the metronome, all by pressing a single button labeled “Grand Piano/Function” on its body.

Additional Features – Metronome, ECO Operation (shuts off the piano after a period of inactivity, thus saving energy)

Pros:
The reason for all this comparison to electric keyboards is that the Yamaha P45 is in many ways similar to an electric keyboard. In terms of the appearance, this is a basic looking model that looks more like a keyboard than a piano. At just 26 pounds this is a lighter device, just like the Casio PX150, which may be a selling point for those who move around often, as it lacks some of the heft of a meatier instrument.

Cons:
The more affordable price is also reflected in the relative lack of features. While there are some preset songs, a duo mode, and a few different voices, this is definitely a piano first and foremost with few bells and whistles.

Final Conclusion:
That’s a good thing if you’re serious about playing the piano, but not such a good thing if you want to teach kids who enjoy playing with every sound under the sun. Likewise, this is a ‘nice’ digital piano that isn’t really a suitable birthday present for a young kid who would probably get more fun from a ‘kids’ keyboard anyway.

The latest Yamaha P45B is an ideal musical instrument for beginners who want to be able to experience the quality of a real, acoustic piano at an affordable price. It also boasts of a compact, lightweight design which allows for better portability and makes it ideal for using at home as well as outdoors. All in all, it is another successful addition to Yamaha’s legendary repertoire of digital pianos and not just carries forward the tradition of the P-35, but enhances it (in some cases at least).

Overall, the Yamaha P45B does everything you need it to. It’s a straightforward digital piano with no excessive extras but it also creates a great sound and can handle anything you can throw at it. It’s a great deal, though it’s worth bearing in mind that spending just a little more will get you considerably more features. This digital piano gets a hearty recommendation as a basic device that nevertheless is suitable to more advanced playing.

I had very high expectations before I purchased the product. Unfortunately one of the black keys is broken where is located on the left side and It prevents from me playing one of my favourite pieces. Moreover, amazon said they could not replace it and I must wait for Yamaha to contact me to see IF they can do anything. Thus, I will most likely to return the product, If i can, once I return home from my vacation. Ocerall, the product is nice but you should buy it from a legit store.

piano is great but the instruction booklet is poorly written. Piano sounds great and the headphones are even better because my husband can’t hear me practice. Stand does not slip and easily adjustable for different heights.

The instrument arrived on time and no issues. It is a gift for my spouse and she’s very happy. She has played some previously (can read music and played piano as a child) and was quite pleased with feel and tonal quality. The only real complaint so far is the headphone input is difficult to access behind the instrument. It isn’t switchable between audio and headphone so when you go from audible to phones you have to plug them in each time. It’s not a big problem for her as she uses the headphones almost exclusively but I would find it to be a pain.

Bought this as a wedding gift. It plays beautifully, has a beautiful sound. STand is very sturdy, definitely worth buying the double X for this size piano. Pedal and headphones are fantastic.
Excellent piano and beautiful sound!

It’s a great piano and the weighted keys feel like playing the real thing. Sound quality with headphones or external speakers it super high but as many reviews have called out the speakers on the piano are just ok. They sound good unless you turn the volume up to much. Overall this is an amazing deal and I would get it again.

I’m a beginner pianist, took lessons as a kid and bought this set a couple weeks ago in order to get back to playing. I like the keyboard a lot, it has a nice sound and the keys feel pretty good. But the stand in this set sucks. It’s wobbly and too tall, even at the shortest possible setting (I’m 5’5″). I recommend the P45B, but skip the set and get yourself a better stand.

The piano is great - as good as expected. Our son plays by ear and is really enjoying it. It’s really nice to be able to use the headphones and play without disturbing the rest of the household. Delivery was even faster than indicated. Packaging was very good.

The keyboard arrived with 9 of the keys frozen in place. Local Yamaha repair facility advised it would be 2-3 weeks for a repair, and a large stack of paperwork had to be completed to execute a repair order. This product was returned.

As several other reviews have stated, this piano arrived with multiple keys not working at the high end. Efficient Amazon return but this seems like a common problem with this model.
